New Delhi, Sep 27: The Delhi High court reserved its judgement in Priyadarshini Mattoo rape and murder case with the Central Bureau of Investigation concluding its argument today.
Additional Solicitor General Amarendra Sharan, arguing for the CBI, pleaded with division bench of RS Sodhi and PK Bhasin to allow the earlier petition seeking punishment against 4 policemen for slowing and misleading the progress of the case through either omission or commission.
Four policemen included Lalit Mohan, Investigationg Officer of Delhi Police, who had been first entrusted with the case before the CBI took over. By then however, the IO had already done the case more harm than good, the petition had alleged.
The court also dismissed today two petitions- one by an NGO- praying for a hearing in the matter. Mattoo's counsel B L Wali expressed satisfaction that the hearings were wound up in a record time.
