Soldier hurt in ULFA-triggered blast


Guwahati, Sep 19 (IANS): An army soldier was injured in a blast triggered by the anti-talk faction of ULFA in Assam's Sivasagar district Friday, police said.

The blast occurred at around 7.30 a.m. near Kanu tea estate under Kherbari area.

"The splinters hit the first vehicle of an army convoy passing by the area," police said adding that an army soldier was injured in the incident. The army convoy, comprising three trucks, was on way to Sapekhati in Sivasagar district from Arunachal Pradesh.

Police later launched a search operation in the area and recovered a bag containing another low intensity bomb.

The anti-talk faction of the ULFA, in an email sent to media, has claimed responsibility for the blast.
