Haridwar, Oct 6: The Uttaranchal administration has started gearing up for the next Kumbh Mela to be held here in 2010 and sanctioned Rs 300 crore for the purpose.

A high-level meeting presided by divisional commissioner Subhash Kumar to assess the projects and revamp the infrastructure facilities for the mela was held here last evening.

After department-wise intensive assessment was made, Kumar approved a budget of Rs 300 crore against the proposed budget of Rs 411 crore.

Sources said construction of two flyovers on the hill by pass for easy traffic management, beautification and expansion of the ghats and the mela area, setting up of high quality mobile toilets, drinking water facilities, sanitation and electricity supply systems were on the anvil for the Kumbh.

Kumar instructed officials of all the departments concerned to start work on the projects at the earliest. He urged then to copmlete these projects within the stipulated time with full transparency.
