Stephany Dsouza to represent India at Malaysia fashion week


New Delhi, Oct 13 (IANS): Stephany Dsouza is all geared up to participate at Mercedes Benz STYLO Asia Fashion Week (MBAFW) in Malaysia, starting Oct 20. Known for her exquisite silhouettes, styling and innovative use of fabrics, the Goa-based designer will showcase an eclectic mix of drapes and cuts emphasising her signature style.

The three-day event, which will take place at Ma-trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur, see the participation of 15 countries and Dsouza will represent India.

According to the designer, her collection will celebrate the bold, confident woman of today with lot of emphasize on feminine cuts.

“I am extremely excited for my debut show at MBAFW. My collection this season celebrates sexy, bold, free spirited and individualistic women and their quest to find timeless beauty,” the designer said in a statement.

“The collection is a mélange of vibrant summer shades, flowy de-constructed dresses giving you the feel of relaxing on sandy beaches of Goa. Silks, textured gold fabrics can be clearly evident in the collection,” she added.

Brought up in the land of sun, surf and beaches, Dsouza launched her label in 2011, which was soon retailed at some of the well known high-end designer stores across the country. In 2013, she was selected to showcase her designs in the gen-next category of Lakme Fashion Week, India.

The Mercedes Benz STYLO Asia Fashion Week is the first ever Asia wide collaboration of top emerging designers in the one media event, taking place once a year in each Asian host city.

The event is a collaboration of 12 official fashion associations across Asia, with the likes of China, Korea, Japan, India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Vietnam, showcasing their best designers in one central location.
