Puttur, Nov 5: Three young schoolgirls from Bangalore were spotted while on their escapade trip to Mangalore and sent back to their respective parental houses on Saturday. They had developed homework-phobia and decided to take a bus to Mangalore.
Kirti (10), Divya (12) and Meghashri (13) of St Mary's Primary School in Rajajinagar, Bangalore had not done their homework. Fearing being scolded both at home and school, they took a way out, by catching a KSRTC bus to Mangalore. The pocket money they had took care of the fare of Rs 362 for a full and two half tickets.
Throughout the journey they are said to have forgotten their cares and worries and enjoyed every moment of their journey. But when they landed at Nellyadi, they got down to make phone calls to their parents. The bus staff got suspicious of their motives and movements and informed the police.
On enquiries, it came to light they were intending to go to the house of a relative of Divya. They were given to the custody of one John, a distant relative of one of them, at Nellyadi. On Saturday, they were escorted safely their homes in Bangalore.
The police and locals who helped in the mission expressed relief that they did not become victims of any kidnap gang.
