'Pukaar- Call for the Hero' launched with star cast


New Delhi, Nov 12 (IANS): Packed with action, thrill, suspense and emotions, "Pukaar- Call for the Hero" was launched with its star cast here Wednesday.

Produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the show stars Rannvijay Singh and Adah Sharma who are making their TV acting debut with the action mini-series.

The show, that will be aired on Life OK, centres around the protagonist, Major Rajveer Shergill, played by Rannvijay, whose responsibilities are not only limited to his country and his family but also to the common man.

The action series also stars actor-politician Raj Babbar who will play the role of Rajveer's father. Also, actors Prashant Narayan, Kiran Karmarkar, Shubhangi Atre and Vipin Sharma can be seen in pivotal roles.

"'Pukaar' is our tribute to the Indian army and we are extremely proud of our association with Vipul Shah who masters this genre. The viewers will get to see a different style of action rarely explored on the small screen," Ajit Thakur, general manager, Life OK, said at the press conference at the Le Meridian hotel here .

The 12-week long series will telecast 24 episodes starting Nov 24.

Vipul Shah, who is also directing the show, said that Rannvijay was a perfect fit for the character as he comes from an army background. He also said that with "Pukaar", he intends to raise the bar of action to a different level altogether for the small screen.

Deven Bhojani has co-directed the show.
