Saudi women have $100 bn as bank deposits!


Riyadh, Nov 13 (IANS): Disposable cash belonging to Saudi women in commercial banks has exceeded the 375 billion Saudi Rubles (about 100 billion dollars) mark, government statistics here show.

According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's official statistics published Wednesday, though their deposits are high, women only account for 7.3 percent of commercial registrations issued by the ministry, the Saudi Gazette reported.

The Council of Saudi Chambers’ women division will organise a number of workshops this month in Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah to promote women’s participation in economic and trade activities. These workshops will carry the theme of ways and means of further promoting investments by women in the Saudi Kingdom.

A number of businessmen, businesswomen, and lawyers will participate in the workshops on various topics of concern, including how to providing women in business with support to boost their ventures. The workshops will also discuss hurdles facing Saudi businesswomen with a view to finding solutions to them.

According to the statistics, about 5.1 percent of manpower in the labour market are women, accounting for about 49.6 percent of the total population.

    A good amount in bank.but what is the use,they dont have somuch freedom like any other women in world.No Chance of driving or without permission to attend some functions ,no self decision.Hope they will have more freedom infuture.Not even to choose a man of their choice.I heard so many women are there without marraige.
