Woman teacher 'molested' child in Bengaluru school, parents allege

Bengaluru: Nov 23 (DHNS): The parents of a five-year-old girl lodged a complaint with RT Nagar police on Friday alleging that a woman teacher sexually assaulted the girl at Navodaya Vidyaniketan School, located on Dinnur Main Road.

Police said the teacher, aged around 30 years, had been detained and booked under Pocso Act. The incident came to light after the girl returned home with a bleeding nose on Friday evening.

When asked by her mother, the girl replied that she was beaten by her teacher on her nose and private parts. The parents immediately took her to a hospital for treatment and later lodged a complaint alleging that their daughter was sexually abused by a “madam.”

“The father of the victim has named the suspect as ‘madam’ in his complaint. He has not mentioned the name of the suspect. The school building is equipped with CCTV cameras and we will examine the footage,” a senior police officer said.

He added that the girl had been subjected to medical examination and no conclusions could be arrived at before receiving the report. He said the victim was in a state of shock and she was yet to be questioned. Another senior officer, who spoke to Deccan Herald on condition of anonymity denied the reports that the teacher had been detained.

As the news broke out, hundreds of parents gathered near the school and staged a protest demanding the arrest of the suspect. Police barricaded the area and brought the situation under control.

BEO visits school

The officials of the Education department who visited the school on Saturday said it was not an incident of sexual abuse, but a general complaint about harassment of the student.

“We visited the school after watching the news report. It is a general complaint. We do not have a copy of FIR yet. When we visited the school, police had taken the teacher for inquiry,” said Block Education Officer (BEO) South Zone III, V Ramesha.

The principal of the school said that they too had lodged a complaint against the parents while the management members claimed that the complaint had been submitted to the Education department. However, the BEO told Deccan Herald they had not received any complaint from the school.

The BEO said that their phone calls to the parents were not answered. He added that the school was closed on Saturday as students had gone on an excursion. A management member alleged that the telephone number mentioned in the police complaint was different from the one mentioned in the school records. The school with classes 1 to 10 has 588 students.

Another complaint

Parents of a student studying in a play home at Hulimavu lodged a complaint against the school on Saturday alleging misbehaviour on part of the management. It is said that their daughter used to come home everyday with mosquito bites and they had urged the play home to take precautionary measures.

They alleged that the management invited the parents for a meeting and abused them verbally. A complaint has been registered.

Dear people. We are doomed.our future generation with present situation as we deal with our children and school...will have violent, arrogant, tyrant, disgrace, shameless,God haters and hitech people.Reason is we do not want to correct our kids! Our children will bring us to shame.Mark my word.If child is not corrected in right ways,it will only bring shame and misery to your old life and you will die young with pain and sorrow.I am glad I was corrected during my school days and cane and punishment kept me from doing wrong!Anyway parents are busy with social network and Idiot box(TV) most of the time.Where they can find time? And later in life very soon, you will regret what you have done and can not be undone even if you wish to.Think of this carefully. Please donot waste your time in other things and neglect your children. Please minimize the use to TV and avoid mobile phones and expensive gifts which will boast your ego and pride and show-off before others who could not afford them. You are the very reason to spoil your own kids.Act now.

Why so skeptical about the incident !? , is it because women r universally assumed as 'innocent' or ' victims ' specially in india ?. The above cases like where woman indulge in sexual assault cases r not new in india , but peaple are not aware of it !. Why teachers name not been disclosed as the doctors confirmed the Injury marks ? , why no radical protests ? , is it because the culprit is a woman here ?!

The ' so called ' women rights activists and campaigners are mysteriously silent on this issue and not be seen even on media. Every time such incident happens male teachers are often beaten and their photos , name made public even if its just a accusation , here her identity is been hidden. Likewise its dual partiality of media and police !!!

Atleast due to POCSO act such cases r coming up , if govt thinks of making crpc 2013 gender neutral , it will be pile of cases from men itself and tide is going to turn , exposing the women offenders.

I too agree what you said Jossy, there is no way a teacher hits the private parts of a student - it got to be the buttocks that is referred to as private parts in the news.

Sexual assault is touching inappropriately or hurting three areas on the body - the chest, groin front and the buttocks. I am sure no teacher will do that in front of other students leave alone a female one doing it. I am saying this because there is no word here about the child being taken to a secluded area and subjecting her to abuse. However, I am against hitting on as sensitive parts as a nose.

As you say, surely this is a case of revenge, its best to wait for more details in the news.

Shocking to hear that a Lady teacher molested a small Girl. But still the parents should have cleared it with the teacher.or with Institution before giving complain and taking their own conclusion.Mosquito bites are not unusual in a big City like Bangaluru.still I doubt here something.whether the Girl has told the truth? It is not unusual that Girls at thís Age fall somewhere and get wunds or some other children beat each other and get bleeding nose.but what is the truth?when it is really the teacher is,then she is not fit to be a teacher in School.Throw her out and punish her.
