Mangaluru: Retired doctors to be recruited for govt hospitals: Khadar

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Nov 25: "The health department will sort out the scarcity of doctors in government hospitals by recruiting retired doctors and also extend the retirement age from 60 to 65 years," said health minister U T Khadar.

He was addressing a press meet in circuit house here on Monday, November 24.

He informed that the health department has received many applications by retired doctors who were willing to continue serving patients. Senior retired doctors who were willing to continue their service will be appointed in government hospitals.

"The health department needs specialists like gynaecologists, anaesthesiologists, general surgeons, paediatricians and physicians. According to the government scheme, the experts will be paid on case basis," he added.

"Gynaecologists, anaesthesiologists and paediatricians will be appointed on contract basis with a honorarium of Rs 50,000 (per month/full time). Doctors will also be appointed on retainer basis where they will work part time for Rs 5,000 and gynaecologists will be given Rs 1,500, anaesthesiologists Rs 1,000 and paediatricians Rs 500 per patient," he informed.

Retired doctors who wish to work in government hospitals can give their written application to deputy commissioner of a particular district.

He also said, “The government will provide 198 ambulances to offer service to people. Out of them, 98 ambulances will be provided by state. As many as 100 ambulances were offered from the former union government. Our district will get 10 ambulances for places like Talapady, Pumpwell, Mudipu, Natekal, Farangipet, Mani, Siddakatte, Haleangady, Kumbra, and Sampaje. Udupi district will get ambulances for Brahmavar, Byndoor, Hebri, Belman and Kaup."

On Kambala:

Speaking on the Kambala ban issue, he said, "There is no question of stopping the Kambala. The union government should convince the Supreme Court."

Most of the doctors have obtained their degree with money power and not on merits that is known fact all over India. Some of them even without completing their respective qualifications earned a good position in Govt/private sector this happened in our Tulunaad. Janaab Khader Bhaai Pl. be cautious into the matter.

Kader Bhai, you are doing an excellent job. When youngsters go on strike because of personal issues or professional issues or to find better jobs elsewhere, where pastures on the other side of the garden is green, you are taking correct measures to employ retired doctors to take care of us. Keep up the Good Work. Jai Karnataka.

58 is max age for govt. svc in overpopulated india. There is a saying "aravattaralli aralu maralu" i.e., after 60 absentminded(scissors in body!!!)So they can do pvt practice but not in govt hospital. As for the jr.docs they protested against unhealthy conditions/lack of facilities in the midst of ebola, mainbola, tubola etc.

you may say anything sir! For me, it is plain foolishness to beleive in this mans' " I will do this and I will do that"!! just like Modi is called FEKU by all, I am entitled to call anyone the same! :)

Khader is a Health minister for last 1.5 yrs, if he had to fix anything, he cld have done, considering he is close to Siddramayya! ...but even Governor repirdmands him!!

he appointed his bro Dr U.T. Ifthikar, as a member in RGUHS panel ... there was rumors of his family grabbing land from a renonwened temple.. and also took away land meant for some homeless recently!... all this happens, and he calls confernces for illogical things like karakaddi bomb, and Anti naxal encounters! and uses few GAS projects!...

yes, when he has human side like "accident victim hospitalised" etc we will appreciate it! .. and midnight rides may help people, but a Minister should oversee all these things and formulate so that people follow it! ... AAP's somnath bharti also did midnight rides and got caugght in legal tussel!

Not everybody is enemy here man.. understand.. :) I can give u a list of projects he announced.. but they r like Veerappa moily project.. none take off! if he achives even 30% of them, Karnataka will be best in terms of health facility!
