Dubai : Domestic workers day gets overwhelming response

Dubai, Dec 1: Emirates Pangalites, UAE hosted 3rd Domestic Workers Day-Out on Friday, 28th November 2014 at Zabeel Park, Gate No. 3. The day was specially planned for Mangalorean and Goan domestic workers who are working and residing in UAE, which received an overwhelming response.

The full day’s program was started with a welcome note by President Noel D’souza to all the participants. Guest of the day Mr. Joseph Mathias, MD, Merit Freight Systems LLC, Dubai spoke on the occasion and asked all to enjoy the day and also appreciated Emirates Pangalites for conducting such a wonderful day for the third year in a row. He appreciated the service rendered by the domestic workers and wished them better future in their day to day life.

Soon after the opening session, Joel Quadras took over the entire day’s event with the introduction of each participant, warm up game and then split the crowd into 4 groups with colored wrist bands.

































 

In the morning session the games like Pick and speech, creating on the spot longest line with whatever items available within the team, shooting the bottles, water balloon game, breaking the pot were conducted.

After the lunch break, the session started with a game of housie, picture puzzle. Anthakshari with identifying the movie and singing the song from the movie followed by enacting on a provided theme by the group and the games were concluded with a Tug of War.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Walter Nandalike, Editor in Chief of Daiji World Media Pvt. Ltd and Dayan D’souza, founder of Daiji Dubai/Daiji Rang Mandir and sponsors of the day Ronald Fernandes and Nelson Rodricks. Dayan D’souza spoke on behalf of the guests and appreciated Emirates Pangalites for conducting this program for the last 3 years which no other associations in UAE have taken up.

The event was also graced by Edwin D’souza and James Mendonca, President of Mangalore Konkans.

A Sumptuous Breakfast, Lunch and evening tea/snacks were served. Special Thanks to Edwin D’souza for sponsoring the Mangaloren Pork and Alfred Britto from Ducab for sponsoring the T shirts and Caps for the volunteers.

The event came to end with a vote of thanks by the past President Clevin D’souza at 5.30pm. More than 100 domestic workers participated and enjoyed the day’s events.
