Bhatkal, Dec 1: In a clinical performance, Knight Riders defeated N Riders by eight points in the final and emerged as Bhatkal Kabaddi League champions.
The Kabaddi tournament was organized by Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation at YMSA ground Bhatkal.
In the final, Knight Riders won the match by 27-19 points in an action-packed summit clash in front of a full house with a number of celebrities in attendance. Apart from the opening moments, N Rider never really looked at ease in the game as they struggled to keep their nerves in check against their mentally tough rivals.
Knight Riders defeated INN Bulls and N Riders won against SIM in the semi finals to qualify for the final. INN Bulls and SIM stood at third and fourth place respectively.
Guest of honour of valedictory function, Bengaluru Bulls captain and player of Indian kabaddi team, Manjith Chillar Rahul Chaudhari, Telugu Titans most valuable raider at the recently concluded Pro-Kabaddi tournament was felicitated by Bhatkal Muslim youth Federation.
All the players thanked members of Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation for organizing the event to promote their talents.
“Kabaddi is one of the best games in the country. Kabaddi has changed across India, but still lot of work needs to be done. Players always put their best when there is a competition. If there is more competition for players, they will have better opportunity to showcase their talents”, said president of Bhatkal Muslim youth Federation, Imtiyaz Udaywar who also presided over the valedictory function. He also informed on behalf of Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation that the season 2 of Kabaddi League will be held in November 2015.
Chief guest Mankal Vaidya, vice-president BMYF Moulana Irshad Naitey Nadvi, BMYF general secretary Moulana Irfan SM Nadvi, zilla panchayat member Abdur Raheem Shaikh, Uttara Kannada district Kabaddi federation president Suraj Soni, secretary Uttara Kannada district Kabaddi federation president Ramanath, Majlise Islah Wo Tanzeem general secretary Mohiddin Altaf Kharuri, JD(S) leader Inayatullah Shabandri and sports director Naseef Khalifa among others were present on the occasion.
The winning team Knight Riders were awarded with a trophy along with Rs 75,000 while runners up N Rider were awarded Rs 50,000 and a trophy. The third place was secured by Inn Bulls (Rs 25,000) and SIM (15,000) secured the fourth place.
The following awards were given on the occasion:
Player of the tournament: Niyamatullah Motiya (Knight Riders) Rs 10,000 and trophy
Best rider: Gundo Misal (Knight Riders) 5,000 and trophy
Best catcher: Mudassir (Knight Riders) 5,000 and trophy
Best all-rounder: Dasa Moger (N Riders) 5,000 and trophy
Fair Play award: Team Maulayas 10,000 and trophy
Gold coin was used for the toss in the semi final and final matches which were won by Knight Riders, N Riders and SIM.
Special mementoes were presented to all Mangalorean umpires and volunteer commentator. Mubashir Hallare compered and Maulana Azizur Rahman delivered the vote of thanks.
Around 10,000 spectators witnessed the final under a tight security.
