Mangaluru, Dec 1: Milk supply in the city is likely to be hit for a day, after scores of KMF van conductors and drivers staged a protest in front of KMF dairy at Kulshekar here on Monday December 1 night.

Around 54 conductors and drivers gathered at the spot and demanded employee state insurance (ESI) and provident fund (PF) and salary hike.

Speaking to daijiworld, one of the protestors said that presently they are paid only Rs 250 for a trip, and there are some who have been working from 15 years.

"We came here at 5.30 pm as we had planned a meeting with the contractors to sort out the issue, but even till 10 pm they did not come. Hence, we are protesting," he said.

"As a mark of protest, we have decided not to supply milk in the city on Tuesday December 2," he asserted.

However, there has been no official word yet on the halt in the supply of milk.
