Kerala bridegroom found dead in Dubai hotel room

Dubai, Dec 6 (Emirates 247) : An Indian mechanic was found dead in a hotel room in Deira, even as his family back home was making arrangements for his wedding next month.

Rupesh, 32, was allegedly found hanging with his vein cut, according to one of his relatives who spoke to 'Emirates24|7'.

“I know him for several years. Also Rupesh is my neighbour. When his family could not contact him on the mobile they contacted me to find out about his whereabouts," said Pradeep, who is making arrangements to repatriate the body with the help of Indian social workers.

Pradeep said that the automobile company, where Rupesh was an employee, informed his family of his death. Rupesh had reportedly booked a hotel room in Deira and had not been going to work citing medical reasons, he added.

Rupesh's marriage was scheduled for next month. One of his relatives said that his family had found a girl for him when he had gone on holiday last time, but since he had to resume work, his mother put a ring on the girl in an informal engagement ceremony. And the marriage was scheduled for his next vacation.

"He used to call us regularly and speak about his to-be wife, but of late he had stopped calling. He promised to return within six months to get married. He used to also talk to his bride," said the relative, who added that they were expecting him to return in September or October but he postponed for reasons not known to them.

However, the relative alleged that recently Rupesh had changed his phone number and so neither his family nor the bride's family could reach him.

When contacted by the website, the automobile company's HR manager confirmed the death but did not divulge details as the case is under investigation.

The HR manager of the company said, "Our responsibility is to ensure his body is repatriated. We have no idea about the reasons for his death. We have a system in place where if anybody wants leave, it is granted. He was working with us for a long time in the after-sales department. Dubai Police is investigating the case."

According to his family, who spoke to this website from India, the body was found hanging with a vein cut a couple of days after his death. He was identified by the national ID on him.

He was not availing his company accommodation in Al Quoz, said his friends, who was baffled as to why he had taken a hotel room. “He had not called his family back home for almost a week before he went 'missing'.

Rupesh hailed from Kannur, Kerala.

Strange, but there must be a strong reason behind the death.
