Jeddah Dec 7: The first Karnataka Noble Trophy Cricket tournament jointly organized by Karnataka NRI Forum and Jamiyatul Falah Jeddah, got off to a colourful start at the Baghdadiya ground, here on Thursday evening, December 4.
In all, sixteen cricket clubs from Jeddah are participating in the tournament. Chief guest of the evening Aijaz Ahmed Khan officially inaugurated the tournament.
President of the Karnataka NRI Forum Jeddah chapter Roshan Rodrigues Madanthyar welcomed all the team players, audience and guests.
Mohammed Mansour, former president and advisor of KNRI Forum highlighted the activities of the organizers in which he mentioned that KNRI Forum and Jamiyat ul Falah as top NGOs of Karnataka striving to help poor and needy persons back home in India.
Vice-president of Jamiyatul Falah, Mohammed Rafeeq while speaking said this was the first occasion where two major organizations of Karnataka were working together for a noble cause.
KNT managing committee thanked all the sponsors for coming forward to help in organizing this tournament.
The details of knock out matches are as follows:
First match was played between Al Max and Center point, Al Max won the match by 7 wickets. Second Match was played between Rising star and JICC and in this match JICC won the match.
Third match was played between Abiyon Jeddah and Challengers and winning team was Challengers. Fourth Match was played between Basem Jeddah and IOE Jeddah; Basem won the match by five wickets. Fifth match was played between Jeddah Scorpio and target guys, winning team was target guys. Sixth match was played between ISF Karnataka and MSC Shipping and ISF Karnataka won by 112 runs. Seventh match was played between IOE Reliance v/s DSK and DSK won the match by 39 runs. Eighth match was played between Deccan Knights and ATS, the last knock out match was won by ATS by 48 runs.
Sabu Chandra, Saud Shaikh and Arshad played a major role in organizing this tournament. While Mohammed Habeeb was the match referee, ground was prepared by Nawaz and Faheem. Professional umpiring was done by Nawaz Arshad and Haseebuddin while live commentary was presented by known commentator and former radio announcer of Sri Lanka Radio Naushad.
Colorful inaugural program started with recitation of Holy Quran by Shaikh Saoud IT Coordinator KNRI Forum while Niaz Ahmed press secretary of the forum anchored the program. Syed Nasir Khursheed proposed the vote of thanks. On behalf of Karnataka Noble Trophy Cricket tournament committee, he expressed a deep sense of appreciation for team work performed by members of KNRI Forum and JF for organizing this tournament. He thanked sponsors, guests and participants of the event.
