Manjeshwar police seize 1,400 litres of spirit from parked mini lorry

Kasargod, Dec 19: Manjeshwar police seized 1,400 litres of spirit from a parked mini lorry in the early hours of Friday December 19.

The police seized the cans of spirit together with the mini lorry which was parked on the road at Anekallu, Guvedapadpu.

As per reports, the police who were on night patrol chased some persons who were moving suspiciously on bikes at around 1 am on Friday. They then found the mini lorry on the road.

Further inspection by the police revealed that the mini lorry was laden with 40 containers each with 35 litres of spirit.

It is suspected that the occupants of the vehicle might have fled upon seeing the police.

During Christmas and New Year festive season, lot of alcohol smuggling is anticipated into Kerala from the neighbouring states to meet the heavy demand prompted by the recent ban on liquor.

Spirit is not a final product but a raw material in concentrated form. Hence the quantity seized is huge by all means.

    Govt want to ban liquor claiming it has done a good job towards society.Drunkards will find an alternate route and private people make huge money . If govt really wants to do good to the society is by reforming drunkards by awareness and not by banning alcohol.

    It is nothing special or restricted to Kerala. All over the country, Congress ruled states are in this situation. The party for sure knows that it will not come to power next time hence looting as possible now. No one bothers about what is happening in the state. Same here in Karnataka too.

    Keep up the Spirit of Festive Season..!! When you ban legal sale of liquor one should realise that illegal sale will increase & loss of revenue to Govt in this.
    Kerala still hits the " Must See Destinations " in India. So banning Liquor will only discourage Tourists in Tourism Sector.
    Come on Govt Officials wake up n do some thing before Kerala wakes up with loads of these kind of Illegal Spirits - to keep people's Spirits High...!!
