Tharendra Shettigar to lead Tulu Koota Kuwait

Kuwait, Dec 22: Tharendra Shettigar was elected the president of Tulu Koota Kuwait during its annual general meeting held on Friday December 19 at the Al Jawher School, Reggae.

The event commenced with a prayer song rendered by Jayalaxmi Karkal, Madhav Naik and Bhavani Naik, followed by the lighting of lamp by the managing committee and advisory committee 2014.

The event well hosted by Suresh Shyam Rao began with the president welcome by Tharendra Shettigar. The secretary, Satish Acharya presented the annual report for the year 2014, followed by the presentation of financial report by the treasurer, Vijay Kairangala. The audience while giving their approval to the financial report also approved the allocated KD 3,000 for a new project of charity work in the year 2015. Mementos were then given away to the managing committee 2013 as a token of appreciation.

Salvador D’Souza, who will be leaving Kuwait after 38 years of work in Kuwait, was felicitated with a memento for his years of service to Tulu Koota Kuwait.

The returning officer Yadunath Alva then announced the new managing committee who were elected unanimously as follows:

President –Tharendra Shettigar
Vice-president –Harish Bhandary
General secretary – Wilson D’Souza
Joint secretary – Vanitha Fernandes
Treasurer – Vijay Kairangala
Internal auditor – Rajesh Mendon
Cultural secretary – Satish Acharya
Sports secretary – Faustine Pinto
PRO – Srikrishna Rao
Welfare officer – Chandrahasa Shetty

The managing committee of 2015 while introducing themselves thanked everyone for electing them and assured of giving the best of services during their tenure in office.The newly elected president, Tharendra Shettigar in his speech thanked all the committee members for electing him in his second term and invited all those who are interested in sports, cultural activities and other art forms to join the committee.

The cultural programmes that followed thereafter were an amalgamation of dance and music. Children danced on various songs, while adults offered soulful display of their voice. The paintings of Vilas Nayak, created during Tulu Parba 2014 were auctioned and the proceedings were beautifully conducted by Suresh Salian and Sushma Manoj. The amount collected at the auction was donated to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. The cultural programme was concluded by a graceful Christmas carol dance and Christmas celebrations by Santa joyously entering and distributing sweets.

The event came to an end with a vote of thanks by the general secretary, the National anthem and a delectable dinner served by Avanti Palace Restaurant. The lightings were done by Illumination’s while the slideshow was ably handled by Ramesh Bhandary and team.
