Mumbai, Dec 23 (IANS): Pharma major Cipla's South Africa-based subsidiary Cipla Medpro Tuesday said it has bagged an order worth Rs.1,100 crore, or two billion rand, for supply of Aids medicine.
According to the company, it won the three year order under the South African Government's 2015-17 National ARV tender effective from April 1 2015.
"Cipla is known as a pioneer of fixed dose combinations following Cipla's Dr Yusuf Hamied's accomplishment of making Aids medication available for a dollar a day in 2001," said Paul Miller, chief executive, Cipla Medpro.
"Cipla also went further and made this triple combination available in the world's first 3-in-1 combination ARV."
The company said it will produce the medication at its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility based in Kwazulu-Natal.
Last year, Cipla bought the South African operations for around Rs.2,707 crore.
