Mumbai, Jan 27 (IANS): Indian telecom major Idea Cellular Tuesday said its unaudited consolidated net profit for October-December rose marginally by 1.5 percent or Rs. 11.1 crore compared to the previous quarter of this fiscal year.
Profit after tax (PAT) for the quarter ending Dec 31 stood at Rs.767.1 crore compared to Rs.756 crore for the previous quarter ended Sep30. Consolidated revenue for the company stood at Rs 8,017.5 crore, 5.9 percent higher compared to the revenue of Rs 7569.9 crore in the previous quarter.
The consolidated PAT for the quarter rose sharply by 64 percent from Rs. 467.7 crore on a year-on-year basis.
In the calendar year 2014, it added 22.2 million subscribers (VLR net adds); the highest addition in the industry. The company now has a market share of 18.1 percent.
During the quarter, the cellular carrier handled 170.7 billion minutes on its network - 5.1 percent sequential quarterly growth with 46.1 billion MB mobile data which increased by 16.9 percent compared to the quarter ended Sep 30.
Revenue from Value Added Service rose to 23.1 percent of total service revenue.
Company earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization stood at Rs.2,752.7 crore versus Rs.2,491 crore sequentially.
