Mangaluru, June 30: Mumbai Police are expected to visit Mangaluru soon to investigate Bilal Ahmad Teli (22), who was arrested for allegedly entering the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campus in Mumbai illegally and attending classes without authorisation.

Though Bilal is believed to be a native of Mangaluru, his exact residential details remain unverified. Mangaluru Police sources said that they have not received any official information from Mumbai Police regarding his background, and it is up to Mumbai authorities to confirm whether he is indeed from Mangaluru. They confirmed, however, that Mumbai Police will be arriving in the city soon in connection with the ongoing investigation.

Stayed undetected for 20 days

Bilal was first spotted on the IIT campus on June 4 by professors who noticed he was not carrying an ID card. Security staff were informed. He was seen again on June 17 attending a lecture and was eventually detained on June 19 by the Powai Police in Mumbai.

Used 21 Gmail accounts

During interrogation, police found that Bilal had entered the campus under the pretext of attending a one-day educational programme but remained there illegally. He even stayed in the hostel overnight and attended multiple classes. He reportedly used 21 Gmail accounts and had filmed videos inside the campus. However, police confirmed that no suspicious materials were found in his possession.

Bilal was presented before the court and has been remanded to police custody for further questioning.

thorough investigation needs to be done as he belongs to minority community...otherwise even if majority people are caught placing bomb in airport it is termed as mental illness
