Udupi: CMC general body meeting conducted to discuss various issues

Udupi, Feb 1: A huge chaos erupted at Udupi CMC general body meeting on Saturday regarding the immediate transfer of CMC Commissioner Srikanth Rao, who rendered his service for one and a half years.

Pai, senior opposition party leader raised the issue of the commissioner’s immediate transfer without having a send off program. He further questioned if Rao really wanted a transfer or if he was forcefully transferred to Delhi. A few days back the commissioner ordered the demolition of an illegal building without issuing any notice near the Udupi city. The issue created many rumours amongst the opposition party members.

Finally, the new commissioner in-charge, J Manjunathaiah clarified that five months back he had sent a request letter for transfer. He was so much eager to move from here without any pressure. CMC president and vice-president symbolically held a send off programme. The programme took a lot of time.
Vasanthi Shetty suggested the clean-up of direction boards on roads and removal of unwanted bill boardsand name boards in the Bhujanga Park.

Shyam Prasad Kudva of Thenkepete ward faces irregular water supply even in the winter season.

Dinkar Shetty said there is no water in the Shiroor dam. In addition to this, a dam wall needs to be constructed in order to store water in the dam.

Yuvaraj answered by convincing the members, that when compared to previous years the level of water has increased to 5.80 meters at Baje dam. Water is enough for 120 days and work on the construction gate wall will start soon, he added.

Prashanth Amin urged the construction of toilets at Malpe beach. Rs 40 lackhs are available in the beach development fund. The commissioner is the secretary of the beach committee.

Opposition party leaders demanded the completion of patch work for the roads within 15 days.

At the meeting, they also decided that 80 Badagubettu Village, should be added under CMC administration soon.

The broadening of the Parkala State highwayand illegal building construction issues had been discussed in the meeting.

CMC commissioner J Manjunathaiah has taken many decisions along with good suggestions from members.

Vice president Amrita Krishnamurty was present at the meeting.
