Beltangady, Jan 28: The grand Mastakabhisheka at Dharmastala has begun with the first day rituals. The event which was held in 1995 is being held after 12 years.

On Sunday, Jan 28, the Deva Guru Shastra was brought to Rathnagiri Hill from Chandranath Basadi and later, all the priests who were invited to perform the week-long rituals were assigned their duties. The priests who were called on by the Heggade family accepted the invitation.

The Toranna Mohurtha was held at the Hebbagilu (main entrance) and the Deva Guru Shastra was installed on Rathnagiri following Abhishka and Mangalarati.

‘Vimanha Shudhi’ was the third ritual that was performed. Vimanha here means Basadi and so the ritual included purification of the Rathnagiri. ‘Vyayu Kumars (deities of Jains) were invoked and honoured and their blessings sought.

The nine planets with their ruling deities were also invoked and honoured in the presence of the Heggade family.

‘Nandi Mangala,’ a ritual was held from 1.30 pm to 6.30 pm. Forty Nine Vaastu Devatas were invoked and installed in 49 different spots of Ratnagiri in a ritual called ‘Vaastu pooja’.

At 6 pm the Nava Rathna will be installed by the Heggade family following a Navagruha Shanti.
