Mangalore, Jan 28: Over a lac people participated in the Viraat Hindu Samajotsava held on Sunday, Jan 28 at Nehru Maidan. The procession from Jyothi Circle to the venue was a grand one with several bands, dance troupes and doll dancers beautifying the event.

   

 

Mammoth crowd gathered from various parts of the district and hundreds of vehicles including school/college buses were also hired for the occasion.

 

 

 

Under tight security the Samajotsava was a peaceful event. Police were on guard in the city from 2 pm and even after the event the RAF vehicles patrolled around the city with loud sirens.

 

 

 

Mohan Bhagwath, Sarakaryavaha, Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh addressed the gathering at the venue. Top BJP leaders of the region including D V Sadananda Gowda, Minister Nagaraj Shetty, MLA Yogish Bhat, MLC Ganesh Karnic participated.

 

 

 

Dr Mohan Alva, Harikrishna Punaroor, Kumble Sundar Rao, J Krishna Palemar were also present on the occasion. Deputy Chief Minister Yediyurappa also joined the event.
