Auckland, March 12 (IANS): Zimbabwe's coach Dav Whatmore, who coached Virat Kohli during India's junior World Cup triumph in 2008, on Thursday heaped praise on the Indian vice captain, saying he has plenty to achieve.

"He is confident. He was confident also as an under-19 captain. But there have been many examples of confident young players who don't follow up and follow through. He is one who has," Whatmore was quoted as saying by Dawn.com.

"It is always nice to see progress in him (Kohli). To be very honest, I was only there for a short period of time but the time I spent was enjoyable," the 60-year-old said.

Whatmore, who also coached Sri Lanka to World Cup triumph in 1996, said he is also impressed by India's bowling attack, which has performed marvelously in the ongoing World Cup. Putting behind a dismal Test series and tri-nation One Day International tournament in Australia, Indian bowlers have been on top of their game.

"It's a team that is bowling the opposition out frequently and that has been a big plus for India," Whatmore said.

"Their batting talent has never really been in question. What was needed was a good strong bowling performance and they have done that."

After five consecutive wins in the ongoing mega event, India face Zimbabwe in final World Cup Pool B match on Saturday to go into the quarterfinals with a clean sheet.
