Bantwal, Apr 23: In view of the proposed construction of a mini Vidhana Soudha in the town at an expenditure of Rs 10 crore at the spot where the taluk office stood, both taluk office and office of the sub-registrar, which were functioning in this building have been shifted to a new building.

There are allegations from the general public that documents lying in the old taluk office have not been shifted to the new premises so far. They allege that only some important files have been brought and kept in the new office, leaving behind scores of files and documents that are of prime importance for the people. They are apprehensive about the safety of these files as the premises lack proper security. They feel that interests of the people might suffer if mischief mongers either steal or tamper with these documents and files.

The people say that doors of this building have been left ajar and there is every possibility of the papers getting lost. People have been heard discussing about the probability of these files reaching the wrong hands, and their general opinion is that the deputy commissioner of the district should immediately look into the matter and take steps to protect the interests of the general public.
