Kasargod: Two idols worth several lacs stolen in Chittarikal

Kasargod, May 27: Thieves entered a temple at Chittarikal and decamped with two ancient idols on Tuesday night, May 26.


The theft occurred at Kunnungai Srikammadam Bhagavathi temple at Chittarikal. The priests had finished puja and gone after closing the door on May 26. When they came in the morning on Wednesday, May 27, they found the door of Sanctorum broken.

They found the idol of Bhagavathi made up of five metals and a brass idol of Sridevi made of brass, missing.

It is said that the main idol made of five metals is ancient and very valuable. Thieves have not taken anything else other than the idols.

Vellarikundu Police station CI T P Sumesh led police team arrived at the place and conducted investigation. The role of a gang conducting thefts of valuables in ancient temples and banks, is suspected.

    countless temples have been destroyed, looted and repeatedly even today, the Kanike dabbi to idols are stolen.. be it in commie land, or congress ruled state, congress at center!

    NOT ONE EVER SAID, HINDUS ARE NOT SAFE! CONGRESS , MMS SONIA Not one is blamed, or ever asked to protect Hindu temples!... infact one politicians daughter and jeejaji are world famous in antique piece business, these idols will land abroad slowly!... but this is not news! ...God shall punish them.. wait till Hindus reclaim everything.. vhe vhe vhe

    After all stolen idols where it land.
    Hinduism is just a way of life and not religion.
    Who the people so much attached to the same purchase by giving hefty amount.
    May be these people comes to know the 'power' of the same.
