Mangaluru, Jun 22: Judge of the Supreme Court (SC), Justice V Gopala Gowda, visited the central jail here as well as Wenlock Hospital on Sunday June 21 and inspected the situation.

During his visit to the jail, he raised queries and got explanation from the officials there. When one of the jail inmates told him that he has been suffering from health issues, Justice Gowda asked the officials to admit him into hospital. He also instructed the concerned to make arrangements to admit two small daughters of jailed mothers into schools.

Officials at the Wenlock Hospital provided him with details about the new schemes, systems, and arrangements being undertaken there. Wenlock district surgeon, Dr Rajeshwari Devi, giving him information about different departments of the hospital, added that a super specialty hospital building is being constructed with an investment of Rs 15 crore.

District chief and sessions judge, M G Uma, judges, N S Patil, C M Joshi, member secretary of Legal Services Authority, B Ganesh, jail superintendent, Obaleshwarappa, and jailer, Siddappa Wadeyar, were among those present.
