Udupi, Jun 23: A felicitation program of twelve christian elected representatives of Grama Panchayat was held on Sunday June 21. This was jointly organized by the Udupi deanery priests, parish pastoral council and Catholic Sabha unit at Don Bosco Hall, Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi.

The felicitation message included twenty points on ‘Bible and the Constitution’ and was delivered by Fr Lawrence D'souza, director of Catholic Education Society. He said, "Nothing is impossible if we have love and faith for others. If the leadership quality of the representatives is a role model for others to follow it will help bring about development in the society.

Fr Baptist Menezes, vicar general Udupi diocese presided over the program.

110 candidates won out of a total of 225 christian candidates in grama panchayat elections which were held on May 29.

The twelve elected grama panchayat representatives of Udupi constituency were Lawrence Fernandez (Katpady), Benita D’souza (Kuntalnagar), Densil D’souza (Kuntalnagar), Christin Mendonsa (Mudubelle), Ledia Fernandez (Mudubelle), Andrew George D’souza (Mudubelle), Monika Noronha (Mudubelle), Allen D’souza (Mudubelle), Reeta Gama, Udupi, Lawrence D’sa (Udupi), Judith Periera (Udyavar), Gladis Mendonsa, (Udyavar),

Charles Quadres, president of Catholic Sabha ward, Ada D'souza, unit president, Blanch Cornelio, Joseph D'souza, Bernadette Pinto, Gladis Rebello, Leena D'souza, Benedict Fernandez, Gretta D'souza, Fr Royance Fernandez and other deanery members were present at the function.

Fr Fred Mascarenhas, parish priest of Udupi welcomed the gathering and John D’souza delivered the vote of thanks. Fr Denis D’sa PRO of the diocese compered the program.
