Five arrested for indulging in immoral activities in house

Udupi, Jun 27: The local police, who were tipped off about immoral activities being operated from a house in the town, raided the spot on Thursday June 25. They arrested four men and a woman during this raid.

The arrested persons were Pradeep Bhandary (35) from Petri village, Abdul Salaam (38) from Uchchila Kattingeri, Venkatesh Kamath (39) from Kodavoor, Hemachandra L Karkera (40) from Padu Uchchila, and Shashikala Preeti (23), who reportedly assisted the others to run a brothel.

Three girls, who had been brought from around Kolkata city for getting them involved with immoral activities, were rescued. A sum of Rs 88,380, said to have been collected from customers by the arrested people, nine mobile sets, a car, and a motor bike were confiscated during the raid. A case was filed in Manipal police station in this respect.
