Ganja distribution hub raided - two held, ganja confiscated

Mangaluru, Jun 29: The police personnel belonging to Bunder station here succeeded in busting a thriving ganja distribution racket that was operational in the city on Sunday June 28. They raided a house in Bunder area and arrested two persons, besides taking onto possession 2.5 kg ganja, two motor bikes, ganja packing machines, and some other sachets.

The identities of the persons so arrested have been given as Farooq (49) and Muhammed Iqbal (34), both from the city. Main accused, Rahim alias Kindi Rahim, succeeded in escaping during the raid.

The raid was conducted based on reliable information. The police personnel formed a cordon around the house before entering inside. The value of ganja confiscated on Sunday has been put at around Rs 20,000.

The raid was conducted by Bunder police inspector, Shantaram, along with sub-inspector, Ramakrishna and other staff, under the guidance of city police commissioner, S Murugan, and deputy police commissioner, Shantaraj.

Main accused, Rahim alias Kindi Rahim, had been arrested once earlier for ganja trafficking. It is being said that he has a lion's share in the quantum of ganja being peddled in the city. One of the arrested persons, Farooq, happens to be the brother of the main accused. Muhammed Iqbal worked as helper for these two persons, it is learnt.
