Mangaluru, Jul 1: B M Machaiah alias Chetan (24), who was a resident of Shivashaktinagara Hosabettu near Suratkal, lost his life in a road accident at Bengaluru on Sunday morning. He was working as an engineer at Bengaluru.

Chetan happened to be the only son of B M Muttanna, a Kodagu-based ex-serviceman, who has been employed as security officer at Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers at Panambur here.

Chetan, who had completed his BE in mechanical engineering from Canara Engineering College, had joined IBM Bengaluru just six months back. The car he was riding near Begur tank on NICE corridor Road met with a terrible accident in which he had suffered extensive injuries. He did not survive the journey to the hospital thereafter.

His two friends, who were in the car, escaped with minor injuries. A case was registered in Electronics City police station about the accident. Cremation was conducted at the Hindu graveyard at Suratkal on Monday. Former minister, Krishna J Palemar, works director of MCF, K Prabhakar Rao, and others visited the house of the deceased and shared the grief of the family.
