Kasargod, Jul 1: A person was arrested, and several cattle stolen by him were recovered, from Arikkady Kadavat near Kumble on Tuesday June 30. The arrested person is believed to be a member of a racket that is indulging in theft of cattle in and around Kumble.

Moidu alias Moidin Kunhi (37), who is predominantly a sand worker, and a resident of Arikkady Kadavat, was taken into custody. Seven cows, five bullocks, and two buffaloes belonging to Arikkady Moosa had been stolen recently. The villagers had formed a team led by Arikkady Moosa to find the thieves. During their search operations, the stolen buffaloes were found to have been tethered in a secluded spot.

After making queries and it became clear that Moidu was involved with this theft, Moosa filed a complaint, on the basis of which Kumble police arrested him. During the investigation, it is said that the policemen gathered details about the theft of 18 cattle from him.
