Puttur, Jul 2: In a tragic accident which occurred near Karaya Garody on the road leading to Guruvayankere from Uppinangady in the taluk on Wednesday July 1, a youth who was riding motor bike was killed. Chandrashekhar (27) from Banari village, who suffered grievous injuries when his two-wheeler collided with a Maruti Omni vehicle coming from the opposite direction, breathed his last while being taken to hospital.

It is said that Chandrashekhar was trying to overtake a private bus that was moving in front of him, when his vehicle hit a Maruti Omni vehicle which was approaching him from the opposite direction. He fell down to the road and sustained serious injuries. The locals tried to save him by shifting to a hospital, but he died on the way.

Traffic police who arrived at the spot later, took both the bus and the Omni into possession.

It is learnt that on Wednesday, a boy and his family members had come to Chandrashekhar's home to talk about the proposal to strike a possible alliance with his sister. Chanadrashekhar was moving ahead in his motor bike for showing the visitors the way to Uruvalu village, when fate took away his life. The new motor bike had been acquired just two days back, it is gathered.

The deceased is survived by parents, elder sister, a younger brother and younger sister. A case stands registered in traffic police station here.
