Sullia, Jul 3: A lady has complained to the police station here against Basavaraj, headmaster of Morarji Desai School at Panja here. Jayalatha, mother of sixth standard student of the said school, Dakshayi (11) from Madappady, said in her complaint that the headmaster named above had beaten up her son.

The boy had told his parents on June 17 about having been hit by Basavaraj. The parents had then visited the school and taken the headmaster to task. When they went to the police station to complain against the headmaster, the police had invited the headmaster to the station and closed the matter with mutual understanding.

After this incident, Basavaraj had proceeded on leave. On Wednesday, he reported back to duty. The boy dithered from attending school again for the fear that he would be subjected to torture again. The boy's mother then went to Subrahmanya police station, and filed complaint against Basavaraj. The police have registered the case and begun investigation.
