Beltangady: Campus turns battleground - three police complaints filed

Beltangady, Jul 4: After students owing allegiance to two different student organizations fought following verbal altercations inside the campus of the first grade college at Melantabettu here, three complaints including those filed on behalf of these organizations, were filed in the local police stations on Friday July 3.

Adarsh (19), a student of the first grade college said that on behalf of Akhil Bharathiya Vidyarthi Parishad, a protest was planned to be organized in the college. 'Vinodraj, Nithin, Praveen, Lakshmeesh, Dinesh, Vinay Kumar and some others physically attacked me after I refused to join them in the protest in spite of their insistence,' he stated. He also accused a past student of the college named Swastik of abusing him with filthy words and pelting stones at him.

In another complaint, college student, Vinod Raj said that when he was proceeding to take part in the protest in the college, students, Pramod, Jayaprakash, Kumar, Sandeep Suvarna, Praveen, Chetan, Vinodraj Alva, Sadanand, Akshat, Adarsh, Vighnesh, Sunil, Hitesh and Naveen, all of whom are members of National Students Union of India, obstructed him from moving further, besides hurling choicest abuses at him and attacking him.

The principal 's complaint says that an old student of the college, Swastick, had entered the college campus, and attacked a student named Adarsh. He accused Swastik of disturbing discipline inside the college campus, and sought stern action against him.

All these three cases stand registered in the police station here. All the students who have claimed to have been attacked, have got themselves admitted into the government hospital here.
