UPSC results - Nitish from Udupi secures 8th rank, tops state

Bengaluru, Jul 5: In the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination results announced on Saturday, Karnataka has four persons in the top 100 list.

Nitish K from Udupi stands 8th in the whole nation securing the top spot among candidates from Karnataka. Nitish is the son of Ramakrishna Hebbar, a manager at Karnataka Bank, and Bharathi. The family hails from Ambagilu in Udupi.

Nitish went to schools in Udupi, Chitraduraga, Tumkur and Bengaluru. Last year he had secured 547th rank in the UPSC examination. A student of PES Institute of Engineering, Bengaluru, he is presently in Shimla, undergoing training for Indian Audit and Accounts Service.

An elated Nitish said that he is extremely happy with this achievement and credited his success to his parents, an uncle who is serving Karnataka police, and his friends.

Faujiya (31st rank), Balaji (36th rank) and Prashanth M S (47th rank) are others from Karnataka who appear in the top 100 list.

It may be remembered that the top four spots were secured by women, the first rank holder being a physically challenged woman.
