Udupi: Fisherman drowns in sea at Kaup

Udupi, Jul 5: A fisherman drowned at Kaup beach here on Saturday July 4.

Ramesh Karkera (47) is the person deceased.

As per details, Ramesh, a poor fisherman was completely dependent on fishing. As the weather was fine on the morning of Saturday July 4, he decided to go fishing. In rainy season some fishermen fish near the seashore with the help of vehicle tyres as they cannot take boats.

When Ramesh was in the sea with the aid of a tyre, a sudden breeze changed his fate. He discovered that it was dangerous, and tried his best to come back but as his leg slipped, he could not reach the shore. He fell in the sea even as people watched.

The locals and Ramesh's friends went into the sea to save him, but there was no trace of Ramesh. Now almost after a day his body is yet to be found.

Ramesh is survived by wife and two sons. Minister Vijay kumar Sorake and former legislator Lalaji Mendon visited the house of the deceased and consoled his family.
