ASP detects illegal cattle trafficking - Vehicle, animals seized

Beltangady, Jul 6: Assistant superintendent of police here, Rahul Kumar, found during the patrolling that a vehicle carrying cattle illegally was operating at Parappu junction in Kaliya village. The incident occurred early morning on Sunday July 5.

Kumar intercepted the mini tempo in question at Parappu Junction near Gerukatte on the basis of reliable information. During verification, 18 cattle were found loaded inside the mini tempo. It is suspected that these cattle were stolen from some village.

Both the driver of the vehicle and two other occupants of the mini tempo took to their heels during the operation. Seven plastic trays and a tarpaulin were also found from the vehicle. The value of the vehicle and cattle confiscated in the case has been put at Rs 4.8 lac. A case stands registered in the local police station relating to this incident.
