Kundapur: Couple from Mangaluru fleeced during train journey

Kundapur, Jul 7: A Mangaluru-based couple, which was travelling in the general compartment of Madgaon-Mangaluru inter city express train, lost gold ornaments, cell phone, and cash, which were kept inside a vanity bag they were carrying during journey sometime back. Although this incident occurred on May 21, complaint stands referred to Byndoor police station with inordinate delay.

Balakrishna Sridhar Pai from Mangaluru had boarded the general compartment of Madgaon-Mangaluru inter city train at Karwar on May 21 this year along with his wife. All the luggage the couple was possessing, had been kept below the seat on which Pai's wife was seated. After the train left Kumta, the lady went to sleep. She got up when the train left Byndoor station, and found to her horror that her vanity bag had disappeared.

It is said that a golden chain weighing 30 grams, a Mangalya Sutra weighing ten grams, ear lobes, ear ring, driving licence of the lady, cell phone, glasses, umbrella, and Rs 200 in cash were stolen from the couple's possession.

The case which was registered at Mangaluru has been transferred to Byndoor station for investigation.
