Mangaluru: Student cabinet inaugurated at St Agnes College

Mangaluru, Jul 7: The student cabinet of St Agnes (Autonomous) College for the year 2015-16 was formally inaugurated in the college Auditorium, here on Saturday, July 4.

Prof P Subrahmnya Yadapadithaya, registrar of Mangalore University, Mangalagangothri inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, Prof P S Yadapadithaya emphasized on the motto of the college ‘God is our strength’ and said, “God is all our strength and one cannot move forward without the will of God. One can get a rank by design or by default but one should also be able to inspire another by her deeds. For the overall development of an individual one needs to be physically fit. Students must possess a stable mental health and develop her emotional quotient. One’s IQ will not be valued if she doesn’t have an EQ. To crown it all, what is most important is the spiritual strength to enhance one’s growth”.

Speaking about leadership, he further said, “A leader should be effective. For a leader to be successful, she needs to know the ABCDE of life: A for acceptance, B for Brave; C for Courtesy; D for Dedication and E for Efficiency”.

Sr M Supriya AC, the principal administered the oath to the cabinet members. Student president Deepika, the four vice presidents: Disha for Arts, Maureen for Science, Mayolla for BCom and Bridgita for BBM along with 30 secretaries of various departments and associations took the oath and pledged to perform their duties faithfully. Dr Maria Lobo, department of Botany delivered the vote of thanks. The programme ended with the National Anthem.

The programme began with a prayer song by Ashna and group from the final year BSc. Dr Noeline Pinto, HOD of Botany welcomed the gathering.

Sr Dr Maria Roopa AC, superior of the convent, Prof M Supriya AC, the principal, Sr Dr M Jeswina AC, vice-principal and the Cabinet coordinator and Sr Marie Evelyn the coordinator of Post Graduate studies, Professor Charles Pais, the registrar were other the dignitaries for the programme. Ms Jonita and Ms Harshini introduced the student’s cabinet to the audience and Malavika compered the ceremony.
