Former Nagarjuna director Heroor Rajaram Alva passes away

Mangaluru, Jul 8: Heroor Rajaram Alva (76), popularly known with the name, H R Alva, who was a former executive director of Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals, breathed his last at a private hospital in the city on Tuesday July 7. He has left behind wife and two sons.

Alva had started his professional life in the capacity of welfare officer at Kolar Gold Fields in Kolar district, after obtaining postgraduate diploma in social work from Madras. He then served Indian Telephone Industries as additional director. His other tenures of work included HMT as director, and chairman of HPF, before taking over as executive director of Nagarjuna Fertilizers.

After retirement, he was working as adviser to some international industrial concerns. He also worked as director of NIPM. He was conferred with the Plaque of Honour. In 1994, he was given the Shiromani Vikas Award considering his contribution to the progress of the nation.
