Mangaluru, Jul 10: KMC hospital, Mangaluru, part of Manipal health enterprises, leading healthcare provider introduced the latest technology Rotablator at its Ambedkar circle branch on Friday July 10. Rotablator was inaugurated by Dr Annapoorna Kini, director cath lab and interventional cardiology, professor of cardiology, Mount Sinai school of medicine, New York.

Speaking at the inauguration Dr Kini said "Rotablator is used to clear the rock-hard, calcified lesions that standard angioplasty balloons have failed to effectively treat. The diamond tipped burr chips off the calcium deposit. Stent can be placed easily once this deposition is cleared. This will reduce going for surgeries".

Dr M V Prabhu, dean, Dr R L Kamath, HOD, department of cardiology, Saghir Siddiqui, unit head, Dr Anand Venugopal, medical superintendent of KMC Hospitals Mangaluru and others were present.

In addition to the rotablator, KMC hospital will introduce 3 D mapping system that will give cardiac care the high tech edge. The 3D Mapping system will be inaugurated on Saturday, July 11 at 3.30 pm at the cardiology departmentby Dr Jayaprakash Shenthar, professor electrophysiology unit from Sri Jayadeva institute of cardiovascular science and research, Bengaluru.

About Rotablator
