Beltangady: One dead, 6 injured in bus-tempo traveller collision

Beltangady, Jul 11: One person died and at least six others were injured after a tempo traveller and a KSRTC bus collided head-on at Dharmasthala here on Saturday July 11.

The deceased has been identified as Thayamma (36) from Bengaluru.

The tempo traveller, carrying passengers from Bengaluru, was plying from Ujire towards Dharmasthala while the KSRTC bus was moving from Dharmasthala to Bengaluru.

Thayamma and six others who were injured in the accident were admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru, where Thayamma breathed her last. Another injured, identified as Muniratnamma is said to be serious.

Traffic was affected for sometime following the accident.

Beltangady police arrived at the spot.

    It is sad that someone had to die for another's mistake.
    I would like to highlight that these TT's, taxis and cabs that travel from Bangalore are driven very rashly..
    In Bangalore itself these TT & cab drivers are found driving recklessly, zig-zag, talking on the phone while on the wheel,over-speeding thereby creating a big nuisance on the road.
    These same cab drivers are hired by pilgrims & passengers and these idiots drive on the highways as in the city, in the same way as mentioned above thereby putting innocent lives at great risk. Also they do not have any experience of driving on the Ghat sections and hence such accidents take place.
    Also these people run a union and cannot be questioned by the general public.
    Its high time that the RTO officials and Traffic police come down heavily on these errant cab & TT drivers before many more innocent lives are lost due to their negligence.

    Road accidents are ever on the increase. Most of these road accidents are caused by careless driving.

    Buses colliding with other vehicles is common. It is therefore expedient that The Police Department gets at the root cause of these mishaps.

    There is a an efficient Police force in Mangalore and I am sure Mr. Murugan The Commissioner of Police Mangalore is taking all necessary precautions. With regard to the district we are indeed fortunate to have the services of D. Sharanappa who is most efficiently controlling all problems.

    As the IGP in charge of the four districts Mr. Paul is devoting a lot of time to help the various departments under him to function effectively.

    May soul rest in peace.UJIRE -DHARMASTALA road is like NH having enough space to pass 3 vehicles.TEMPO TRAVELER,MILK VAN & State BUS are in same category in speeding and reckless driving.
