Udupi, Jul 11: Young Students Movement (YSM) of Udupi diocese training and central council election was held on June 27 at Don Bosco Hall, Udupi. 17 school YSM units took part in this event, gathering about 115 students and 17 animators from the Udupi Diocese.

The programme was scheduled from 9 am to 2 pm. It was inaugurated by Fr Dr Lawrence D’souza, secretary, Catholic Education Society Udupi by lighting the lamp. The new prayer book 'Saanidhya' was also released by him.
 
Norbert Misquith conducted the training session. The session was initiated by ice breakers and thereafter followed by the YSM orientation for the students. The topic of the session was 'Students education in modern era'. 

This was followed by the election of the new YSM central council in which Sudarshan Nayak was elected as the new president and Loyal Cardoza and Jane Belita D’souza as vice-presidents, Vickson Stevin D’souza as the secretary, Evangeline Elizabeth as the joint secretary, Royd Brian D’souza as the treasurer, Sohan L Fernandes as the reporter and Melissa Lewis as the regional representative of YSM Udupi. Veena Raheena D’costa and John William Veigas were appointed as the new animators of the movement. 

Oath taking and the valedictory programme were next to follow. Apeksha shared her experience of the past one year in the council. It was concluded by the YSM anthem followed by a sumptuous lunch.

Thereafter the first meeting presided by the diocesan youth eirector Fr Edwin D’souzafor the newly elected office bearers and animators was also held.
