Kaup to get sub-registrar's office soon: Sorake

Udupi, Jul 12: "With the intention of upgrading Kaup as a taluk centre, there are plans to open a sub-registrar's and other important offices here," said Udupi district in charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.

He was speaking after inaugurating a programme to distribute government facilities to several beneficiaries in Uliyaragagoli, Mallar and Kaup. The programme was held at Kaup Veerabhadra auditorium on Saturday, July 11.

"An appeal has been submitted to the minister of revenue to open the office of sub-registrar for the allround development of Kaup. Similarly, the chief minister has been requested to open the office of sub-treasury. The minister of education has been requested to open south zone public instructions office in Kaup," he said.

"An appeal has also been submitted to minister of health, U T Khader to upgrade Kaup government hospital and provide a mortuary at a cost of Rs 1.50 crore and the minister has already agreed to provide the funds," he added.

"Udupi district has achieved the second place in the state in terms of distribution of BPL cards. Around 7,000 families are yet to be issued BPL cards and it will be done within the next three months. As many as 600 people have been distributed house sites and another 700 sites will be distributed to other beneficiaries soon," he said.

He handed over a cheque of Rs one lac as compensation to the family of a fisherman who had drowned in the sea recently and other facilities to another one thousand beneficiaries from different government departments.

Taluk panchayat vice-president Ganesh Kumar, taluk panchayat members Shambhavi Kulal, Girish Kumar, Kaup gram panchayat president Usha Shenoy, vice-president Dinesh Kotian, Uliyargoli gram panchayat president Pradeep U, Mallaru gram panchayat vice-president Mohini Shetty, Belapu gram panchayat president Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, Kaup C A Bank president Kaup Diwakar Shetty, taluk panchayat executive Rajendra Bekal and PWD Engineer Uma Shanker were present as guests.

Food department deputy director / Kaup municipal council commissioner Yogeshwar gave the keynote address. Kaup gram panchayat development officer Sunder Prabhu welcomed and compered the programme. Kaup hobli deputy tahsildar Shaukat Assadi proposed the vote of thanks.
