If elected, we will get back properties pledged by farmers: Kumaraswamy

Bengaluru,Jul 13 (DHNS): JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy said on Sunday that his party will get back the properties pledged by the farmers to raise loans if it comes to power in the next Assembly elections.

“I promise that the next government will get back your pledged properties. Wait for two to three years. The aim of the JD(S) aim is to instal such a government. The party will stand by you. It’s our responsibility to save your properties. Do not take the extreme step of committing suicide,” he said at a media conference.

Incidents of farmers committing suicide is on the increase in the State. The farmers are taking the extreme step as they are unable to repay loans. As an Opposition party, the JD(S) will urge the State government to take immediate measures to waive off all kinds of loans the farmers in the State have taken, he added.

He announced that the legislators of his party have decided to give away their one-month salary in order to extend financial assistance to the family members of the farmers who have committed suicide recently. The JD(S) has opened 24/7 helplines – 99000 31555 / 99000 25777 – for extending support to the aggrieved farmers, he said.

Besides, he said the party has decided to meet the family members of the farmers who committed suicide recently. To begin with, the party leaders will visit the family members in the five districts of Chamarajanagar, Mysuru, Hassan, Mandya, Ramanagara and Bengaluru Rural on July 18 and 19. Later, after the completion of the ongoing Legislature session, the party leaders will visit the aggrieved families in north Karnataka, he added.

Kumaraswamy charged the Siddaramaiah government for doing nothing to prevent suicides. “The government is least bothered about farmers’ suicide. It has not taken any stand on the issue so far. It did not even allow the Opposition parties to discuss about the problems of the farmers in the Legislature session held at Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi,” he said.

Asked about reports that the State Congress is divided over inviting its leader Rahul Gandhi to the State in the wake of farmers’ suicide, the JD(S) leader asked: “Does Rahul Gandhi require an invitation to meet the farmers? Is he is not aware of the farmers’ deaths.”

JD(S) LP meet

He said the JD(S) legislature party will meet on Monday morning to discuss about moving a no-confidence motion against the Siddaramaiah government. “The intention of the party is not to topple the government. The move will give an opportunity to discuss all burning issues in the State,” he said.

Kumaraswamy & fly. are fully capable, on their own (with their own means), without having to finish off the already bleeding Public Sector Banks/Institutions, to get back the properties pledged by farmers.

The question of waiting till the next elections, simply doesn't arise.

If HDK is elected he definitely get back properties pledged by farmers but not back to the farmers but to his JD (s) fold. Politicians never speak the truth and they talk to their convenience. Currently HDK is making a creamy statement to get back his popularity as he is sure that if he does not work for the poor farmers and weaker sections his future doomed. Even without power HDK can still work for the good of farmers but why this statement is a question mark.

..Indian politicians should learn from GREECE..Forget salaries, GREECE cant even give pensions, or peoples bank deposits..you just cant dole tax money to farmers to get vote..these politicians are the same people who demonise corporate houses who pay taxes, same tax money Govts dole out to farmers!!..Instead empower farmers, give them crop insurance, introduce new technology for farming..over the year Tax payers spent billions of rupees on debt waiving schemes of politicians..Govt already gives free electricity, less interest or no interest loans, subsidies..these things further burdens middle class tax payers..are only farmers living in this country!!..look at Sugar factories, these factories owned by politicians, they purposely wont pay, they know Govt will bail out..why wait for another 3 years, let KUMARASWAMY sell his property & give back all pledged properties of farmers.

If elected.....If elected......This has become a standard practice to woo the voter and come into power and then forget about everything and start minting money at the cost of the taxpayer. The elected leader starts getting a hefty salary even more than a engineer or doctor and indulge in large scale scams.when caught they pledge innocence and every trick in the book of politics to save their skins. This is not the norms of just the Janata Dal but also of the Congress,BJP and all other parties.

The present Prime Minister gave so much of electoral promises throwing dirt on the ruling government of malpractices and committing the same mistakes.I am sure if the present opposition wants to come in power it will repeat similar mistakes of throwing dirt on the BJP and when in power will do the same.
Its high time the Indian voter researches on the candidates and if not satisfied press the neutral vote or at least try to elect a leader like Lal Bahadur Shastri,APJ
    Abdul Kalam,Vallabhai Patel and few
others for whom the country and its
citizens were above money and dirty
    politics.
