Mangaluru, Jul 14: “When you do not act, we will act,” - seemed like the message from the people to the police in this incident. They damaged two cars, one allegedly involved in a serial theft as they said that the police failed to catch the car or the owner. They also attacked the passengers travelling in those cars. The incident took place at Talapady near Ullal on Monday late night.
As per details, a police complaint was lodged regarding a serial theft which took place at Panjala near Talapady a week back. There was a mention of the car registration number which people had noticed in the police complaint. But the car was not traced at all.
On Monday night, the same car allegedly involved in the serial theft was spotted plying towards Kerala. A team of people informed about this to others in Talapady and followed the car. The car was stopped at Talapady and the occupants of the car were questioned. The occupants said that they had only hired the car. Then the occupants were told to call the owner of the car.
The owner of the car arrived in another car. While they were talking to him, people found some rods and sticks in his car. The conversation turned into a fight. The locals damaged both the cars and attacked the owner of the car and also the occupants of the car.
The injured have been admitted to a hospital in Thokkottu. Police have taken the two cars into their custody and are investigating the case.
