Yadagiri, Jul 15: Death of three persons belonging to a single family because of snake bites in the wee hours of Tuesday July 14 brought excruciating agony for the other members of this family apart from villagers living at Saidapur in the taluk.

A woman, her daughter, and grandson, died in the incident. The deceased are Mahadevamma (52), her daughter, Pooja (12), and grandson, Nandeesh (7).

Five members of the family had gone to bed together on Monday night. Three of them were bitten by a venomous snake in the early hours of Tuesday, killing all of them. Pooja happened to be the youngest daughter of Mahadevamma, while Nandeesh was the son of another daughter of Mahadevamma. Pooja was a fifth standard student, and Nandeesh was in the second standard.

The other two members, Rekha and Tippamma, had a providential escape. Nandeesh's parents work as coolies in Bengaluru, and they had left behind their son at the house of his grandparents to enable him to continue studies.

Medical officer of Saidapur community health centre, Dr Diwakar Malge, said that the bodies of the three deceased bear marks left by snakebites. He concluded that their deaths had occurred due to snake bites.

District superintendent of police, Vinayak Patil, and tahsildar, Malleshi Tanga, visited the spot. Case of unnatural death was filed in Saidapur police station.

This story sounds a little incredible. No one woke up and one snake had enough venom to kill all three? I cannot believe it at all. I hope they investigate further.
