Bengaluru, July 15 (IANS): Massachusetts Institute of Technology has in the past 50 years invented 10 things that revolutionised the world, but no earth-shaking invention has emerged from any Indian institution, N.R. Narayana Murthy, chairman emeritus of Infosys, said here on Wednesday.
The inventions like Global Positioning System, bionic prostheses, microchip, e-mail, slow drug delivery and polymer scaffolds for human tissues, and text and speech recognition have revolutionised the world, he said at the second annual convocation of the Indian Institute of Science.
"...the reality is that there is no such contribution from India in the past 60 years," said Murthy.
He also asked elders of the Indian society - academicians, politicians, bureaucrats and corporate leaders - to deeply debate and immediately act to "leave a better world for our posterity".
