Udupi, Jul 17: The third anniversary of the erection of Udupi diocese and installation of first Bishop of Udupi diocese with the thanksgiving Eucharistic celebrations held at Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur near here on Thursday, July 16.
The Bishop of Udupi diocese Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo concelebrated the Eucharistic celebrations along with around 45 priests.
Fr Reginald Pinto director of Sampada, during in his homily said "The mission of Jesus was to spread the good news of the Lord to the masses.God says I will pour out my spirit on everyone and will proclaim the message. The diocesan commission's work is to spread the good news of Our Lord. We should live with the help of Holy Spirit. We have to sacrifice ourselves for the diocese with service, justice, peace etc with the help of various commissions which started with proper, perfect and leading directions under the leadership of our Bishop. Jesus Christ is the centre of our work in the diocese."
On the occasion of celebrations of Our Lady of Carmel, Scapulars were blessed by Bishop and distributed to all the faithful participants. Fr Stany B Lobo Rector of Cathedral expressed his gratitude on the celebrations.
During his message Bishop gave credit to all concerned specially vicar general of the diocese Msgr Baptist Menezes for his outstanding services for the diocese. Bishop expressed gratitude to rector of cathedral for his guide and help specially during the diocesan programmes’ at Cathedral. Fr Stany Lobo’s service will be outstanding. He also gave thanks to all the clergy and nuns for the smooth running of Diocese under the Holy Spirit to spread the good news of our Lord. He also thanked all concerned laity for their support and participation. He called to achieve the goal of various pastoral commissions of the diocese.
