Mangaluru, Jul 18: Muslims from the coastal belt of Karnataka and other districts celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday, July 18 with much joy and devotion.

The faithful flocked to mosques, particularly the Idgah at Light House hill in city early morning for special Eid prayers.

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of the month of Ramadan and beginning of the Shawwal month. The sight of moon on the last evening of the month of Ramzan, also known as Ramadan, is greeted with grateful voices which hail the greatness of the Almighty Allah by praying in unison, 'Allahu Akbar'.

People at Bhatkal celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with religious fervour and enthusiasm. Eid prayers were offered at all Juma Masjids following incessant rains from past few days in the town and the condition in Idgah was not suitable for Eid prayers.

Moulana Abdul Bari Nadvi led the prayers at Jamia Masjid. In his sermon Moulana spoke mainly about the issue of respecting our parents.

Moulana Khwaja Moinuddin Akrami Nadvi at Khaleefa Masjid, Moulana Abdul Ameen at Noor Masjid, Moulana Niyamatullah Askeri at Maghdoomia Masjid, Moulana Ansar Khateeb at Millia Masjid and Moulana Zakariya Nadvi at Madeena Masjid delivered sermons.

On this occasion people exchanged Eid greetings and hugged each other.Bhatkal DySP, Ayyappa CPI Prashant S Nayak, Many non Muslim leaders along with others visited Bhatkal Jama Masjid and exchanged greetings with Muslim brethren.

A breakfast for all non Muslim friends was arranged. Bhatkal police department had made adequate security arrangements outside all Namaz venues to prevent any untoward incidents..
